At Green Lighting LED, we love the world cup. In fact, I think the US can make a deep run this year. The U.S. World Cup team just arrived in Johannesburg…England look out!
Many green activists are concerned about the environmental impact of the event. Just how ‘green’ is the World Cup in South Africa this summer? It seems that there is a lot left to be desired.
- World Cup in South Africa has carbon footprint six times larger than 2006 competition
- World Cup carbon offsetting projects mostly conducted at local level, include tree-planting
- Many green activists do not believe enough has been done to make competition eco-friendly
Have you attended an event recently that had eco friendly products? We would like to hear from you. Please send us information about the event you attended, the eco friendly products that you saw and how you felt it positively or negatively affected the event.
Thanks for your comments! It does not have to be an event in South Africa for it to be influential or the products to make an impact. Many companies in your home town have likely made updates to their facilities.
